RE: Sunsets and Ponies, Perfect Way to End my Day

Scallops! I love them! Scallop fishing came to a bitter and abrupt halt in 2007 when fisheries managers closed the grounds off Chincoteague to sea scallop. But, after a few years, Virginia is the largest provider of scallops in the nation! Two main types of scallops -- sea or ocean, and bay -- are available year-round, though their harvest time starts in November and lasts into the winter months. Crab harvesting - you are in the perfect position to use hand lines, collapsible traps, and crab pots. Woo-hoo! Always plenty, always delicious. June -September is always the best, but, you can crab April 1 - December 31. You can clam all year round there. You can even use rakes (the Maryland side doesn't require a license)

Let's not even talk about oysters! They are everywhere!

It's a seafood lover's dream! Thanks for stopping by, Kris! @ksteem Have a great day!

I'm craving some for sure. One thing about rural countryside of Vermont, have yet to find a good restaurant. Let alone good seafood one! Now catch and cook? That sounds even better!

That is a problem in rural areas. I have to agree with you there. Some days, I just want to go to a nice place and not worry about cooking or go somewhere special. Having no place specific to go to makes that even more so.

Catch and cook? Every time I am at the shore house! It is the way I was brought up on the Eastern Seaboard. Fresh is best!
