The closest thing I can get to dumster diving is a very good branch of the SPCA (an animal welfare organization). They do have various little stores where one finds real treasures for next to nothing.
I run a bnB and had quite a collection of lost property. I eventually throw the useless stuff out if guests don't respond when I let them know - like one sock, or one shoe, but many cell phone chargers, which come in handy when new guests leave theirs at home!
Amazing that you found a treasure in that silver coin!
PS Huxley is too gorgeous <3

That SPCA shop sounds like a fantastic place to treasure hunt! Thrift stores and secondhand shops often hold just as many surprises as a good dumpster dive.. SOMETIMES even better ones since they're curated a bit.
Running a B&B must lead to quite the collection of lost items! I can only imagine the assortment over time. It’s funny how chargers seem to be the most commonly abandoned thing—probably because guests replace them quickly and forget to follow up. But, on the plus side, having a stash on hand is definitely useful!
Finding that silver coin was such a fun surprise. It’s amazing what turns up in the most unexpected places. And Huxley says thank you! He’s been supervising all my sorting efforts with great enthusiasm. hehehe 😊
