RE: Come spend some time at the river.

in Silver Bloggers2 years ago

Oh yes, I can believe that as over here when the rivers flood many people are homeless because the water destroys their homes. The problem is that they build their houses too close to the rivers. And of course there's always the danger of building things cheaply and cutting corners with cheap labor. Of course the government doesn't mind, as they don't have the pressure on them to build houses for those that build their own homes. But one also has to be fair and even a well built house will collapse when its foundations are swallowed by an earthquake.
Such is life my friend.

Cheers and thanks.

Yes, you're right, but that let me think of my parent's house. It has survived some earthquakes in the past because of the 1 meter thick walls, but no one would nowadays build a house with such thick walls anymore, I believe 😉 !LOLZ

We have also been talking about the people who lose their homes because of the floodings, and they build their new homes in the same area although they know the water will destroy them again...

You said "such is life" and I agree.

Yes, you are right, nowadays all exterior wall thicknesses are 250mm and internal walls are 150mm thick. I am talking about brickwork here. People will faint if they had to build a house with 1 meter thick walls 🤣 !LOLZ

Now I remember that we did discuss the issue, but the question is always, where else could they go?
So they have to sacrifice to live and it is so sad.

Cheers and thanks.

My parent's house is mostly made of stone, no bricks, and no one builds such houses nowadays anymore 😅 !LOLZ

Yep, you have explained me that more than once and I still can't understand it, and that's sad too.

I don't know if I have told you that I'll be mostly offline in the next days: we have taken a few days off and are going on vacation to Salzburg, and we will stay exactly there: https://goo.gl/maps/7WGHwRyxcND5g9rZ6

For many, many years we have spent our winter holidays there with friends and with the family of my wife's sister. We haven't been there since 2018 and my kids thought we could have a family meeting once again. So, us 4 and my wife's sisters family, that has grown a little bit in the past years, will meet there tomorrow afternoon and we'll try to have some fun till Sunday.

Some of us will go skiing and some, my family and our niece with her family, will go for walks or just have a great time. And the evenings will be spent together.
It's a very old farm there and not expensive at all. It's even like family there because we have known them for about 30 years.

So, I hope the weather will be fine that I can take some nice winter photos, and of course, I'll find some time every day to go online 😉

Oh yes, I remember and with stone cemented with clay the walls can easily be that thick, we also still have some of those old stone buildings here 😊 !LOLZ

It seems like you guys are going to have a great time over there and I am glad that you know the place very well. So since you have been there so long ago, it is a perfect idea for the families to gather there.
Each doing their own thing during the day and gathering at night. No doubt you will be out with your camera in the day.

I will have a look at the link after the reply and I hope that all of you will have a very good time.

Cheers and thanks.

Only a few of us are going skiing and the rest spends the day together walking at the lake, hiking or playing cards. It's a lot of fun after years of not being here.

My camera is with me, but it's too warm and there's not much snow, so I haven't taken many photos yet.

Hope your pain have gone by now and you're feeling better, my friend ☺️

Great that everyone can do their own thing and that there are no rules or dominance. It can indeed get very tiresome if one person demands that everyone should join him or her every day.

Sad to hear about the lack of snow, but still, you can enjoy yourself. So, no need to worry about photos.

Thank you for asking, the hip is much better, but I still struggle with the knife stabs in right leg's calf. Not a very pleasant experience, but thankfully I have pain killers and I continue to walk on the leg, as it must heal itself 😟

Cheers and thanks.

Yeah, we spend quite some time together in the mornings having breakfast and then some go skiing and some go walking or hiking or shopping. The youngest is 5 months old and the oldest is a pensioner, but unfortunately it's not me 🤣 !LOLZ
In the late afternoon we meet again at the house and spend the evening together till we go to bed quite late 😴

I don't go skiing anyway, so I don't mind very much that there's not much snow, but I would have loved to take snow photos - it doesn't look good when there's everywhere patches of grass in the snow, so I didn't take a lot photos.

Don't get addicted to the pain killers, my friend 😉 but I do hope they help you and will soon not needed anymore.

We are packing our things for tomorrow morning and so I have forgotten to ask you how you're doing, my friend. Has the pain become less and are you sleeping in your bed again?
Hope you're doing fine 👍😊

We are gone for 4 days only, but I'm packing things for 14 days 🤣 !LOLZ

That Remberghof looks like an ideal destination Hannes. I hope that all is fine that side.
Last night was my first night without any cramps and I am back on the bed, so thank you for the care.
Now stop worrying about me and enjoy your visit 😊

4 days? 2 shirts, 2 pants, toothbrush and camera. How difficult can that be? 😜 !LOLZ

Cheers and thanks.

It's a very old farm, probably a few hundred years old, and it's awesome, feels like family.

I am happy that you're feeling better now and hope it stays like that.

Double the amount of clothes and you're right. And we have winter clothing with us too because the mornings and the evenings are still quite cold ❄ !LOLZ

Wishing you a wonderful weekend, my friend ☺️

It sounds like a great place and that's why you must retire there.

Ouch, that's a lot of clothes and we have nothing like this over here. In our warm winters I simply add a jacket to my 2 shirts and my two pants. My wife of course is totally different, as she packs 5 sets of clothes for 5 days away and a whole lot of other stuff, but that's normal for females I believe 😜 !LOLZ

Thank you and I hope that you guys have a wonderful time out there.

Cheers and thanks.

So you want me to retire on a farm? I will not be able to experience a sunrise ever again because I have to go to the barn and feed and muck out the cows every morning 😂 !LOLZ

We have had a quite warm winter and the lowst temperature here was about -11 C, so there's a little bit mor eneeded than a jacket 😉 In the mountains it gets even colder and -20 can also be cozy if you have the right clothes on 😀

We have had a great time and maybe we'll meet there again in the Summer.

Hope you have had a wonderful weekend, my friend, and that the pain has eased.
