RE: He did his best

Wow! Look at this young genius! That´s an amazing achievement, congrats!!! Btw this phrase: "Honestly we as parents did not set any high expectation - a little over 90 percentage was what we had in our mind." sounds funny, in most families, anything around 90% would be very high expectation and huge success ;) Congrats again my friend, you can be really proud of your kids.

Well, 90% now a days is average, if you are not aware. You won't get a seat in good colleges below 95, 98-100 are the best now a days. Not our time, but given that he never scored this high, we were fine with average score, though he was optimistic. Almost more than 50 kids have scored more than 95 in his school alone :)

Yeah, I know what you mean, but even with 90 percentile, it means that you are better than 90% of the other applicants. Or you were not talking about percentile?

It's not percentile :) percentage. In fact, there would be barely any below 75 :)

Ah, I see... So we were thinking in different metrics :) But your son´s performance is still very impressive and I congratulate him on that great result :)

Thank you a lot and we are very happy about his achievement - a kid who never scored 90, got 95 on the final - we could not have asked more.
