aren't you fly kites?
We have a special festival for that, Makara Sankranti, that happens in January, as the winter ends. We have tried many times, but it needs some special skills. That is the reason, many don't prefer.

I know 14 January has always been a special festival for us. I remember only Guju used to fly on that day....I hardly find them at our side...(eastern)
Naag panchimi is also a festival where use to fly kites all across Uttar pradesh.
