Wintertime Decluttering & Baking Artisan Bread, Again - by Sunscape

There is one decluttering project I do every January, clear out files from the previous year. I'm a bit behind schedule but finally emptied the file cabinet and got to it. I'm one of those that keeps paper documents to a minimum. The only ones that are saved are those used for tax purposes. I keep those for 7 years and then toss them too.

I knew it was going to take me most of the morning to get through most of them. I proofed some yeast to make another loaf of Artisan Bread for my hubby.

Once I got the dough mixed and kneaded, I let it rise for two hours. Back to the files, tearing up old bills and keeping what was important while the bread rose.

I got through most of the files by the time the bread was done baking and decided to take a break for lunch.

Of Course, salad was on the menu for the day topped with a bit of sauerkraut. I still have a large jar of it in the fridge that needs to be eaten.

Since I was going through so many files, I pulled out all the necessary documents to take to the tax accountant. Now, I just need to make the appointment and that will be done for another year.

During the winter months I keep busy by cleaning and organizing closets. Last week I did my clothes closet and donated some clothes that I no longer needed. That was a big job to get done but felt so good to declutter that part of my room. Next, I will be going through all the dresser drawers, but that will be sometime this weekend.

I'm still missing my flowers, and this was from the butterfly garden this past summer. It is still snowing again today so I might have to find another closet to clean out.

Your bread looks so good (or shall I say hubby's bread🤗) Well done on the decluttering!

Bread for hubby, but it is hard not to have a small slice when doing keto. lol Decluttering so many different areas left to do but I'm determined. Are you enjoying your new home and meeting new friends too?

Not having a slice of freshly baked Artisan bread would be pure punishment! I'd give up Keto just for the whole day, not just one slice😉
Decluttering actually makes one feel kind of 'lighter' @sunscape.
I'm really enjoying the new house and new friends, I've joined two ladies on their daily walks, there are lovely paths here. I'm slowly getting fit.

I'm so happy for you. Our home really feels lighter and so do we as a result. I've been letting go of stuff for 5 years now and finally getting down to keeping just what we use. I still have things to get to yet, but when the mood strikes, I do another drawer or closet, this summer is the garage!

That's the way to do it, the men's garages are the worst! I gave most of Arthur's stuff away, luckily he had done some clearances there while he was still well.
Enjoy your weekend @sunscape.

Thanks for the encouragement. The garage and his tool shed are going to take more than a few days 😅

Decluttering feels so good doesn't it? We did our closets this fall. It felt good to donate it as well.

It always amazes me how much a space feels lighter when you let go of what is no longer needed. My husband has been making many trips to the donation centers. I've been doing a lot this winter in different spaces throughout the house. It certainly does feel wonderful @coinjoe.

Ha, keep documents? I'm terrible. I dont have files of anything - there's no paperwork in the house. It's all online or I have no clue where it is. If i get a tax audit I'm totally stuffed. I rip anything up and put it in the worm farm or recycling, and most of my bills and important docs come via email. My Mum, however, is more like you.

I am more like your mom, at 70 I still do things old school, that I am used to. I know the younger generations do everything online for time's sake, but I still like holding the paper, lol.

Being a packrat, I don't declutter much. But winter is spring cleaning time. The project for today is taking down the roller window shades and repairing and cleaning them.

I come from a family of packrats, Pam and always kept everything, for those just in case moments. But these past 5 years I have been steadily letting things go. I've had two very large garage sales that were successful, but too much work. Now, I just put stuff in boxes and hubby hauls it to the donation centers. There are things I have given to family also and now my home feels so much better. I've been planning on posting about it but never took any photos while doing it. Duh!

I dunno, maybe at some point I will be able to declutter, but I can’t see it now…
