Feathered Friends: Black Capped Chickadee at the Feeder on a Sunny Day!

This winter has been dominated by cold, darkness and a lot of rain (and snow!), so there haven't been many good photo opportunities lately.

Even so, there have been a steady stream of feathered visitors to our feeders.

The Black Capped Chickadee is a fairly common bird around here, but they can be tough to photograph because they flit around a lot and tend to be very shy around humans.

This little creature showed up after about 15-20 minutes, but insisted on always facing the other way. Sadly, the most in-focus shot was of his/her back...

Until...

Actually... that really wasn't all that helpful!

But at least (s)he had a nice feed.

This next one is a bit fuzzy because (s)he was actually taking off at this point.

Still, it was nice to see a feathered friend in the sunshine!

Thanks for stopping by and looking!

Are there birds cuter than chickadees? In Washington we get four species, Black-capped, Chestnut-backed, Mountain and Boreal. Three, all but Boreal are pretty widespread in the right habitat.

They really are adorable little birds; right up there with wrens, another favorite.

They are a common backyard feeder bird for me, too. I love hearing there call

We like watching them rom our back patio. Hope to get some better shots!

Chickadees rock. We have 4 species of chickadee in Washington State, three are common, Black-capped, Chestnut-backed and Mountain Chickadees. Boreal Chickadee is rare.
