Kingfisher at a tree stomp

Kingfishers are one of the most colorful birs here in Austria and that's why I really like them very much. I like the blue and orange colors this birds have. Then I also like the behaviour of the birds that have a tree stomp that they often fly to. They are very territorial and often use the same tree stomp for resting and hunting. This is always the opportunity to get some great picutres of birds, in this case the kingfisher.

The Kingfisher is not really a seldom bird, but since it is shy and pretty fast taking pictures of it is not so easy, at least if you don't know where it is sitting for hunting and waiting for prey. Since most of the time I don't use any camouflage to hide from the birds it is also a little bit difficult to get close enough to the shy birds like this kingfisher. But sitting for hours in a camouflage tent is not really my most interesting hobby.

That bird is lookin' like a pretty coo cat.

This is the first time i am hearing about this bird kingfisher.

Oh my favorites! All the effort and time spent is worth it.👍

I also like them, but hummingbirds are probably my Favoriten but i have Not Seen them in Real Life.

Kingfishers are soo cute. Fantastic shots, I love the one with the fish. 🙂
Now, thinking about colourful birds, here we have kingfishers and bee-eaters. I don't recall any other bird being so colourful.

Yes, we too have Bee eaters , together With the kingfisher one of the Most colorful Birds. But I am looking forward to See the Humming Birds some time, they are smaller but a lot more colorful. At least once in my Life I want to See them.

Oh, I would love to see them too. 🙂

The color scheme on that little dude is the best, especially the muted orangey brown colour.
