Kingfisher one of the most colorfull birds

Once in a while I am able to take some pictures of the kingfisher, that is a bird that can be found near rivers and creeks with clear water where it is able to fish with sucesse. The Kingfisher is not really a seldom bird, but since it is shy and pretty fast taking pictures of it is not so easy, at least if you don't know where it is sitting for hunting and waiting for prey. Since most of the time I don't use any camouflage to hide from the birds it is also a little bit difficult to get close enough to the shy birds like this kingfisher. But sitting for hours in a camouflage tent is not really my most interesting hobby.

The kingfisher is one of the most colorful birds we have here. The blue and orange color of its feathers it really beautiful in my opinion and I really like watching it. Since it uses one and the same spot for sitting several times a day, it is good to position yourself with the camera in front of the spot and wait for it to arrive.

Wow! What a fascinating photo selection of this bird... Excellent work!... I loved it... Years ago I used to see kingfishers in the nearby lagoons, but from some time now they have disappeared :-( ... I guess it has to do with the recent changes in climate and habitat. I really enjoyed looking at your photos. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you! Sad to hear that the kingfisher was impacted by habitat changes. :-(

I totally agree with you. Great shot!
It looks to be standing up like a penguin.

Oh yes especially on the first picture.

Oh my favorite birds! Photos with a fish in its beak just show the essence of these birds. Amazing pictures!
