Kingfisher - The blue Diamond

Because the Kingfisher has such beautiful blue feathers it is often called the "blue diamond" here and I have to admit that I really love the orange and blue color that the kingfishers faeathers have. It is one of the most colorful birds here in Austria and I am always happy when I see it. I alraedy had the luck to take pictures of this beautiful bird several times and at different locations. It needs some fresh water with a lot of tiny fish where it can fish for small baby fish for its own diet and also for the birds offspring. It often uses the same spot for fishing so if you know where it already sat down for hunting you might see the bird again during different times of the day.

The besti time to watch this bird is when they have to feed their offspring and when they are constantly hunting for small fish to feed the offspring.

Hive Power Up Day - November 1st 2023

Awesome photos! I normally only see them flying by, really fast.

Yes they are good at that, you need patience to wait at one of their Branchen for hunting.
