The Robin is a bird that likes to show of it's beauty and now in Autumn and Winter when there are only a few leafes on the trees it is easier to spot them when they pearch on a branch of a tree or a bush. They often apear when I don't expect them. But robins are one of those birds that are not that shy and because of their red color the can be seen very good compared to other birds that have a little more camouflage like pattern. Because they also often like to approach humans it is one of the easier birds to photograph.
I took these pictures on a day when I actually was on the hunt for some waders at the Inn River in Upper Austria, but because there is a small forrest at a usual spot that I visit there, birds like this robin can also be found there.

Well known gardeners, the robin is pretty unafraid of people and drawn to human activities involving the digging of soil, in order to look out for earthworms and other food freshly turned up. During the cold time in winter they look for remaining berries and fruits they can find for their diet. If you want to take some pictures of it the time in winter when the trees don't have any leaves is probably the best since you can spot a robin easily when perching.
