The theme for this week is
FLEDGLING
YOUNG BIRD
This is a picture I took of a chicken and her 3 chicks a few months ago. They are what I call street chicken because they wander our streets searching for food. No one seems to know who owns them nor where they come from nor where in our subdivision they live.
Almost everyday I see them with their mom and their sight was a very common occurrence. Last month I saw the same three chicks but at that time I decided to take a photo of them. You see, they have grown a bit and they were on their own. No mother hen watching over them.
They're inseparable. It seems like they have this bond to stick together, for how long I do not know. They probably feel instinctively that in unity there is strength. Street cats and dogs don't scare these street-wise chicks. Even humans don't. They can run really fast and hide in tight small spaces when they feel threatened. And when the danger is gone they come out and act just as if nothing happened. In the photo above you can see a stray cat looking warily at them and actually looks like he's the one who is scared not them.
Last week, I took a few photos of them again. Guess why. They're bigger! They've grown right before my eyes. Look.
And now I can see that one of them is male and will be a fine rooster eventually. Do you see which one is the rooster-to-be?
And even now, after so many months of seeing me, they still run when I approach them. Street smart these chicks.
Eventually these 2 soon-to-be hens will be having their own chicks and accompanying them in the streets looking for food. And guess who the happy father will be? Your guess is as good as mine.
All for now folks. Hope you enjoyed my feature this week about the three little chicks. I enjoyed myself making this post. Thanks to our generous sponsors The Feathered Friends Community and @melinda010100 and to our hard-working but hopefully not overworked judge, @oks2crypto. And also to @ecency.com for the ecency points tip to our participants.
(All photos are mine.)
How they did grow and stlll stick together. Wonderful post. ☺
That's a good question. I marvel at these 3. They're never separated. If you see one, you know the other two are nearby. It's so unusual.
Wow that's great news @barbara-orenya. Thank you so much.
Love the little bird. So distinctly you. Keep safe!
