SMAP 203 - The Three P's Of SMAP

in Feathered Friends3 months ago

Hi Bird Photo Hunters. Round 203 of the Show Me A Photo Contest or SMAP is now here, and in my case, almost gone. Happy to have made the deadline. This Contest is hosted by @nelinoeva and you can find the link to the contest at the end of this post. Do read up about this long-running contest and be a hunter of bird photos. It's fun.

The theme for this week is:

BIRD(s) IN THE SKY

I knew I was running out of time when this morning came and I still did not have a photo for this week. But I did not want to miss this week's SMAP or any other week for that matter if I can help it. And help it, I did. I decided to try my luck on this overcast and dreary day and stood by our wall at the back of our house hoping to find some flying birds and picture them with my cellphone. "No big deal," I told myself encouragingly. There was one solitary bird chirping loudly and incessantly atop a dead, leafless tree. Oh, if only he would fly I will be very happy. I took some photos of it while observing.

I thought it was the Yellow vented Bulbul but it was not. It was a different specie. I've seen it before but was not able to photograph it. Suddenly, it shifted its position and I thought, "Fly. Fly. Fly." And fly it did. It only took less than 2 seconds and he was gone. Luckily, I had my camera on video and was able to capture its flight, to my vast relief. I screen shot the various frames in those few seconds, edited them, and voila! I have my bird in the sky.

I Googled this bird and according to my search this is the Common Babbler, probably the Striated Babbler. The species is distinctly long-tailed, slim with an overall brown or greyish colour, streaked on the upper plumage and having a distinctive whitish throat. And if I may add, it has a very loud voice lol.

Well, as they say, patience is a virtue. Still for SMAP, it is not only patience. It still needs 2 more P's. These are Perseverance and Purpose. Yup, the three P's of SMAP. Maybe we call this contest SMAPPP. Hahaha.

For my entry, the last photo is it.

That's all folks. Just wanted to say if there's a will, there's always a way. Happy I found a way to get on board this week. Stay safe everyone and may you all have a blessed Sunday.
