Feathered Friends - Bird and Flower - Round 29

While on the Island of Koh Samui a few years ago, I will say I had never seen so many dogs and cats roaming around but they were not alone they were occupied by many types of chickens and roosters nearly every shop, house and even 7-Elevens had cats, dogs and chickens roaming around the fronts of there stores or house this was considered as a normal thing and I would say pretty normal in most Asian countries. I could understand the fact of dogs and cats roaming around everywhere but seeing chickens and roosters roaming around was quite peculiar and this brings me to the story of these Guinea Fowls roaming around by this flower shrub near a house as we were walking through this pathway that was leading us to this little hidden gem beach on the island.

I was amazed with these Guinea Fowls, never seen these guys before, I have seen many chickens and roosters but coming across these guys, I honestly was not sure what they were, they seem to look like a smaller size Turkey and I find out when I googled these Guinea Fowls, they are related to the family of Turkeys and chickens well no doubt, apart from having a beautiful coat of feathers they have one ugly head just like the Turkeys and they say they taste a bit like Turkeys and chicken.

These Guinea Fowls are also useful in controlling pests like insects such as grasshoppers, crickets, flies and wood ticks. Also in a flock they kill and eat mice and small rats meaning they are useful having around the house. They seemly originated from Saharan Africa and are native to Africa. A very interesting bird, they were very friendly and didn't mind a close up shot they were probably curious about us white foreigners something they wouldn't have seen or probably have never seen in these neck of the woods.

Seeing some of these domestic animals roam the streets is similar to Africa too. You'd see them sometimes without a home. Not that they don't have owners, but most times, after the day work out they never returned.
Guinea fowls are very soft-hearted birds, they run faster and don't come close to humans.
Their eggs too are very good.

seeing this first time, wow what an healthy birds....😁
