The Dance of the Cormorants (action series of six captures)

Cormorants also known as shags. Skillful fish-hunters and passionate fish-eaters, hehe. Considered as sea-birds but all the high-speed wildlife action photos you are going to see today and hopefully enjoy, LOL, I have made at lake Kerkini, an amazing protected natural reserve lake in the Northern part of Greece, close to the Bulgarian border.

I called this series "The Dance" as during the photo-session I had with all of them, I couldn't shake myself off the feeling I am attending a synchronized artistic swimming competition. :)

If you have ever spent some time observing those simple by their only black feather color birds you may have noticed they are able to hold their breath for minutes while deep diving to catch their supper. Such amazing creatures. Let's not waste more time writing words, enjoy now those few black and blue scenes :)

To capture those moments sharp and close, I've used my full-frame Canon EOS 5D III camera along with my Canon EF 100-400 mm pro lens. That was the only way to get closer to those shy species... They are quite energetic so when photo-shooting them, the minimal shutter speed was 1/2000 ;)
