It is the midsummer and the temperatures are above 30°C, some places reach 40°C. The heat make the birds to search for water and it is great if we can help by putting birdbaths in our gardens. In our small park the fountain where the water is running is broken. However, even if it is half broken and very ugly, still functioning and always visited by the birds. The seagull is just standing and the water gently sprinkle on the the chest. There were bunch of jackdaws on the ground together with sparrows drinking from the puddle formed around the fountain.
The seagull looked around and flapped the wings and jumped on the ground. I wasn't fast enough and the whole bird did not fit in frame in the next image.
But then I've got these two shots that I like more, especially the second one, such a bizarre pose. 🙂
And then the bird walked away with dignity, casting its shadow.

Another day., another seagull. This time a fledgling. Look how different the plumage is compared to the adult. I found it near the house on which roof I have observed the young seagulls. I suspect it is the same bird. The grass turned yellow as we have no rain for quite some time. Few days ago it did rain, but hardly make any difference, the grass is like burned and everything is dry.
And that's all for now. I am looking forward to the weekend, although the forecast is for more hot days and I am not willing to stay outside much longer. But wait and see if I will come up with new pics.
Happy birding!

I've never seen a young seagull before!
I love seagulls. They are the crows of the sea:)
Young seagulls are quite funny. 🙂

Sea gull sure is using every last drop of anything to keep cool, including an impressive walk away from fountain. Fledgling gull almost looks well camouflaged against the burnt lawns, hope some rains arrive soon!

These gulls seems to stay away from the sea. They have plenty of food among the rubbish bins and I am not sure if they go fishing anymore. I could be wrong. We leave some 10 km away from the sea and this is not a big distance for them to cover.
Oh, I wish it could rain soon. But summer is usually dry here.
Problem here as well with dump sites.
Our dry season at the moment with grass really needing some rain, birds starting to pair up for new season.

That makes lovely catches ! 😃
hope you get some rain soon, in France it's quite hot too, but less than the past two weeks when we reached some high levels...now the 30° are weirdly bearable...😁
Thank you Barbara! 🙂
Oh, this summer hit some temperature records in Europe. The worst that happens are the wild fires in some places. Really hortible. I have just returned from late afternoon/early evening walkie and it was quite pleasant with the breeze.
Do you take some vacations this summer..?
Not quite, I have no plans to go on a holiday this summer.
I need some rest from work though. I will be having few days off and will stay home. I have the advantage to live close to the sea. So, it is not a problem to go to the beach anytime.
The first photo is incredibly funny! The seagull stands refreshing😄How did you successfully catch her doing this.
Thank you @ratel.🙂
The plumage between the adults and fledglings is quite striking.
We have no shortage of seagulls here and they have the sea and ponds to choose from for keeping cool!
They look so different the adults and the fledglings. I had the pleasure to watch young seagulls learning to fly once.
Oh that is so cool and priceless, what a wonderful experience that would have been:)
Yes, it is. Lucky for me, they were born on the rooftop of the building across the street and I had perfect view from my balcony
Oh that is even better:)
