In the summer, we have a lot of wild ducks on the river. Local ornithologists using drones have managed to count the number of ducks that live within the city. In total, they counted more than 1200 individuals. Every year there are more and more of them. The reason for this is the good attitude of the inhabitants of the city towards feathered waterfowl.

In our country, most ducks live near dams. It's always easier to find food there. In addition, in winter, vast expanses of water do not freeze there and it is easier for ducks to hide from various predators.
In summer, of course, most ducks scatter throughout the floodplain. Many ducks nest outside the city limits. But by the cold weather they again gather to the dams for the winter.

Large thickets of reeds and cattails grow along the river bank. There, the ducks, broken into pairs, equip nests for themselves and incubate chicks. In summer, you can often see broods of ducks on the river. They swim along the shore and people passing by try to bring them food.

These little ducklings are growing right before your eyes. Over the summer, they manage to turn into adult ducks. They join their flock and thereby increase the number of ducks on the river. Ducks quickly get used to people. Often they go ashore and take food directly from their hands.

Sometimes there are so many of them that you can walk along the shore surrounded by a flock of ducks and they are not afraid and patiently wait for someone to feed them. Children are especially happy. They like it when ducks come very close to them for food. When there is no one, the ducks are located on the shore and sleep peacefully without fear of anyone.

These ducks in the photographs hurried to the people who brought them food. They saw that people were throwing pieces of bread into the water and they were in a hurry to eat it. It is always nice to walk along the shore and admire the flocks of ducks that swim along the river.
