Forest Wood Pigeon

in Feathered Friends3 years ago

Wood Pigeon, although outwardly looks like a dove, its main difference is that it lives only in the forest. These birds cannot be found in the city where ordinary pigeons live.
Wood Pigeons tend to live in forests. They often prefer to settle in small groves by the river.
They can be easily distinguished by their voice. They don't chirp like regular pigeons. They make sounds similar to the sounds that an owl makes.
Another big difference between Wood Pigeons and city pigeons is that they build nests in trees. City pigeons try to settle in the attic of houses.

In the forest, Wood Pigeons can often be found in forest glades. They walk among the grass and forest plants collecting insects and ripe seeds. They are not very shy. If you do not make sudden movements, then you can come closer to them. Very often these birds can be found in the same place. They often fly to old nests to have new offspring.
