Mute swans

in Feathered Friendslast year

Hello feathered friends,

This pair of mute swans have been hanging out on a nearby lake for quite some time. They usually merely stop by for food. But this time they are staying for nearly a month. These huge and stunning birds fascinate children who visit them daily.

Mute swans are frequently seen around people and are quite tame, except in the spring when they are nesting and are particularly territorial and aggressive.

They are currently enjoying the lake and removing superfluous feathers. They may completely bend their neck while doing this. A long and very flexible neck is also an advantage during feeding.
