This little beauty is by far one of my favorites at my feeder. They are hard to photograph at the feeder because they fly in take what they want and they are off to the trees.
The Tufted Titmouse (Baeolophus bicolor) are small birds at 15cm in fact that is what their name means the prefix "tit" comes from the Scandinavian word meaning small, while the suffix comes from an old world English word "mase" meaning mouse.
The Tufted Titmouse likes to eat insects, seeds and fruits, they live in natural cavities or old Woodpecker hole, or a human built nest box. They have a very recognizable song it is rapidly repeated and sounds like "peter-peter-peter". When building a nest the Titmouse will take hairs from dogs or squirrels to line the nest. The male will feed the female during courting season and nesting.
A Tufted Titmouse will begin to store the food for the winter season as they do not migrate to warmer weather.

Hehe, it does look like a millennial with a mohawk. Both male and female have the tuft I guess she was so busy trying to get her food it was down. Thank you for your comment.
