I have some wonterful fresh stuff from a park walk. Spring is not in the air - now it is in the water, in the grass, in the trees... i.e. everywhere. I directed my telephoto lens (as usual) at the street life AND at the birds life as well -- this indeed is a very special time. Without any special hunting and explorations after a few hours walk I returned back home with so much stuff I am very, very pleased with.

This spring time has a very special colour that I love very much; everything is so clear, light, tender, and delicate before 'all the world is green' phase.

Seagulls. Might be doing some quirky business!

The thrush let me be his companion for just one minute - I watched he was preening and cleaning the beak (or maybe he was sharpening it? looked a bit so!)

Чомга на гнезде.

Havent seen the mullard's nests - just a lot of mating pairs (as always).

Coots, crested grebe ducks and seagulls may be quite spectacular, and, you can see that at least I can approach them -- well, not at hand's distance, but to the range which is good for my telephoto lens to do the job.
My guess is, there must be some rivalry for the best spots for setting down the nests, and in my opinion the coots have seized the best part - cause, well, they are such fighters that other birds prefer not to quarrel or argue with them :)

Look how pleased she looks like! I even see her smiling :)

The seagull is forced to settle for a simpler spot — a leaning tree near the shore, which I'd say is quite reachable to human hands and therefore less desirable. But personally, I was pleased pretty much — the photographing distance was very, very tempting and benefitted to the captures a lot. (Though I could not ignore the risk of dropping down into the water with my camera. Happily it did not happen!)

You can practically see the seagull's pupil in the photos! Anyway, my daughter liked it the most :)

I met a few toddlers who already ventured to go out of their nest but havent lear to fly yet.
A thrush chick was sitting under a pine...
...and a little jackdaw was hiding in dandelions.
I took so many cool captures that simply cannot decide which ones I want to share ... they dont fit into a single post. Besides that I cant edit all of them... so I have to choose -- and I selected these. But let me round up my post with another one; count it as a teaser:

I stumbled upon a coot's freshly-minted family! Actually, I HAVE to made a special post about it, just could not but underline -- I had a desire to shoot them for a long time, about 4-5 years, and now I can say this geshtalt is happily closed! everything comes to the one who waits.

This post goes for 'Show me a photo (of a bird)' contest, round #271 (wow, already 271 ?!?!?) Suggested topic was 'Young bird' -- and it is almost a perfect match to the stuff I recently shoot.
