🦉 The sand martin (Riparia riparia), also known as the bank swallow (in the Americas), collared sand martin, or common sand martin

📚 Riparia ripa (lat.) river bank, riparius coastal

These small agile birds live near the river outside the city. There are a huge number of them! They fly over the nearby meadow, over the lake, and over the river. Nests, or rather burrows, they arrange on a steep sandy slope, where there is loose sand.

If you approach their "dormitory", then they will not fly close to it. But if you lie down somewhere nearby, then the birds will calm down and will continue to fly up to the holes and feed the nestlings.
