🦉 The western yellow wagtail (Motacilla flava)

  • Motacilla lat .: mōto, mōtare move continuously, -cilla tail (cilla like a tail - only in ornithology, erroneous established name)
  • flava flavus (lat.) yellow, gold, golden yellow

These birds love open spaces, which is why they live in such places. In my city, on the very outskirts, there are meadows where these birds nest every year. There are low bushes and tall grass where the insects that these birds eat live.

However, I noticed that these wagtails sometimes fly over the river and visit the opposite side, where the forest is located. They do not fly into the forest itself, but like to wander along the coastal area where there are bushes.
The bird is not shy, it is not difficult to approach it. Moreover, if you behave quietly, the bird may come up on its own.

This is what happens when I stop to rest and sit down on the ground. These birds walk on the ground in search of food and come close to me at a distance of 1-2 meters.
