🦉 The European pied flycatcher (Ficedula hypoleuca)
- Ficedula fi cedulinus (medieval lat.): “A small bird that feeds on figs and turns into a black-headed warbler in winter ”(from: Jobling, 2010)

This bird belongs to the “second wave” of birds arriving from wintering grounds. It arrives when the snow has almost melted, but the weather is not yet stable. Around the end of April.
At this time, the first insects already appear, but due to bad weather, most of them can hide back until warm days.
And such harsh days can only be survived by all sorts of stinking bugs such as bedbugs, which birds do not eat. Except for this flycatcher! She does not disdain them either, because there is no other food.
Birds fly away early and unnoticed, around August, to be honest, I don’t know, as I said, this happens unnoticed.
