🦉 The European robin (Erithacus rubecula)

  • Erithacus erithakos (Greek) unidentified small bird in
the works of ancient authors; erythros (Greek, lat.) red
  • rubecula ruber (lat.) red, reddish, rubeculus diminished. by ruber

This small, modest bird arrives in the so-called “second wave.” That is quite early. Despite its elegance, this bird is quite frost-resistant, which is surprising. It happened that I saw these birds even at the beginning of November, when it was already cold. And in some warm regions, birds can even spend the winter in parks where people feed them. And this despite the fact that the bird is insectivorous.

The bird has a very pleasant and gentle voice, the songs are sad and melancholic.
In the third photo you can see the plumage during the molting process in the summer. And I took the rest of the photos at the end of April.

Greetings @ratel

Such lovely photographs of this European Robin....quite a different shape than the English Red Breasted Robin but very similar colouring.

The lead photo has an excellent composition with those 'columns' framing the Robin....lovely!

Cheers!

Thank you for appreciating it, I really appreciate it😊

Facial expression at shoot #2 is way too cool! ☘️
