π¦ The coal tit or cole tit (Periparus ater)
- Peri (Greek) very, hugely
- Parus (lat.) Tit
- ater (lat.) black, dark
This is one of the smallest tits. In winter, unlike other species, it is nowhere to be seen; there are isolated cases that live in the city, but in most of these birds there are no birds in winter. And they return early in the spring, when the sun is already warming and the snow is melting.
I see and hear them in mixed forests. Males actively sing songs. Moreover, they do this so actively that sometimes they get tired and doze off right in the same place.
But then, closer to summer, most of these birds disappear. The fact is that these small birds live mainly in coniferous spruce forests. Therefore, in the summer I very rarely see them in the nearest forest.

Small bird with distinct forked tail, nice they do visit before hiding in the woods.
