🦉 The Siberian stonechat or Asian stonechat (Saxicola maurus)
- Saxicola (lat ): saxum rock, stone, -cola inhabitant
- maurus (lat.): Moorish, black

In spring and summer, they can be found in meadows, forest edges, weed-covered wastelands, or roadsides. The stonechat sits at the very top of a stem, like a weather vane, surveying its domain. Spot it, and it will immediately give itself away with a sharp "check-check!", as if angry at the intrusion.

They arrive at the beginning of May, at least in the vicinity of my city. But in the neighboring region I met them even at the end of April. And when they fly back is not clear. They do it unnoticed, but I can say with confidence that by mid-August they are gone.
