🦉 The redwing (Turdus iliacus)

  • Turdus (Latin) thrush
  • iliacus ilia (lat.) sides, iliacus with sides (i.e. with red sides)

This species of thrush is migratory, and the most surprising thing is that it appears in the forests of my city at the same time as the fieldfare, although they are not migratory. Very noisy, fussy, and rather timid, unlike the same fieldfare.

Their song is a mess. Whistles, creaks, trills, all together and at high speed.
They live in forests, deciduous and mixed, and this is probably due to their type of nutrition. They eat worms, snails and beetles.
They fly away at an unknown time, this happens literally unnoticed, in principle, in the summer they are not so easy to spot.
