🦉 The azure tit (Cyanistes cyanus hyperrhiphaeus)

  • Cyanistes kyaneos (Greek), cyaneus (Latin) dark blue
  • cyanus Greek: kyanos dark blue
  • hyperrhiphaeus Greek: hyperrheō to overflow, phaios dark, dull

I encountered this spruce tit completely by chance. I was returning from the forest that day, my camera in my backpack, and it was already sunset, quite dark. Suddenly, I heard a familiar voice. I couldn't mistake this bird's voice for anyone else's. I took out my camera and began trying to avoid the bushes where the bird had found food, trying to catch any source of light.

This tit is known for its agility. It can climb to the very edges of thin branches to reach food, hang upside down, and even dangle from one leg while holding food in the other.
