🦉 The Siberian stonechat or Asian stonechat (Saxicola maurus)
- Saxicola (lat ): saxum rock, stone, -cola inhabitant
- maurus (lat.): Moorish, black

These birds love open spaces such as meadows, clearings, and steppes. I even encounter them near forests, where there are only small patches of open space, but that's quite enough for them. Nests are built in a recess in the ground, in a well-hidden area concealed by dense grass. The female builds the nest, while the male guards it, keeping watch over the area.

In fact, surveying their territory is their favorite pastime, just like meerkats. They constantly climb to the tops of stems or thickets and survey their territory, calling to each other. This makes them easy to photograph.
