The black woodpecker (Dryocopus martius)

In winter, it is very easy to find this stylish black woodpecker in the midst of snowy trees. In addition, his catchy loud voice can be heard from afar. It is also easy to detect traces of his activity, after which he leaves almost bare trees. He literally as if rips off a bark from a tree in search of insects under it. Why do I call these guys forest rippers :) Most often, I see them starting in the fall, with the beginning of wanderings. Sometimes they meet their pairs male and female.
