here.
And the theme of this week was - FIRST BIRD FOR 2023Well, the new year, and the round number 100. Thanks to @nelinoeva for the wonderful competition. You can find the announcement and rules

In winter, I rarely go out into the forest. Our weather is such that when the sun is shining, it is cold, and when it is warm, it snows. And I don’t want to spoil the lens and the camera, one expensive lens has already broken. In addition, in order to reach the forest, you need to make a lot of effort, because in those places there are snowdrifts to the waist. The road to the nearest forest lies through the old cemetery, and I pass this way in about 10 minutes. And in winter, this path is about 40 minutes, and a lot of expended energy.

That's why I haven't gone to the forest yet. But I don’t need to, because I am friends with birds, and they themselves fly to me.

I took these photos last week.
When it's warm, I feed my friends from my hands.
When it's cold, I put a tiny feeder on a window.

Mostly great tits arrive. But extremely rarely visits the nuthatch.

He's very funny! When he sees the tits on the feeder, he flies into the feeder like a bowling ball, pushing all the birds.

Then he will eat a little himself, then pick up as many seeds and nuts as possible in his beak and fly away to hide it.

Tits, on the other hand, use a hierarchy, and by rank they patiently wait in line.

A senior male or female can be especially arrogant, and not take food and fly away, but sit right on the feeder and not let anyone in. And whoever dares to fly closer is chased away, spread their wings, or they can rush into a fight.

Have a good work week everyone!

I would love to have a bird sit on my hand. But They are always too shy to do it.
Small birds find their way to the feeding spots, brave to stay through cold winter months. Feeding from your hand is ultimate trust.
Moon capture a beauty, we missed most moon cycle this time with cloud and much rain.
Happy new year, lovely to witness your first arrivals to photograph.
Thank you !😌
How fun to have them eat from your hand! It is fun to watch the feeder behavior, I have feeders at my window and enjoy seeing them all up close.
Yes, this is a very good deal from all sides.😏
When you can't come to them, they come to you...how great is that !? You are a real bird lover !😍
Thanks 😊
It is really wonderful to have them coming and eating from your hand.
How long did it take to get them so confident and feed them from your hand?
I wish to try it, but I must stay in the park, otherwise I risk my cats to do something stupid.
I tamed them 5 years ago. To do this, you need to put a feeder near the window, and then slowly, carefully be next to it so that the birds see you and stop being afraid. They will understand, and a reflex will be developed, since you appear at the window, then there is food, and they arrive. After that, you can already try to feed them by hand. They will be afraid, but gradually they will overcome fear, and in the end they will not be afraid at all. Those who are already tamed can share their experience with new arrivals, those who are slowly looking at the others will also be tamed on their own.
It requires a lot of patience as well.
There is a corner in one of the parks in our capital city Sofia, where the birders feed the birds and they are tamed ro eat from their hands. I have seen apart from tits and nuthatches, some woodpeckers too to come.
You're remarkably talented to be able to hold food in your hand while taking photographs of the feeding birds with your other hand! 📸👌
Good luck in the contest @ratel
This is the second entry I've seen for this round with someone handling a bird, very cool pictures.
