🦉 The Bohemian waxwing (Bombycilla garrulus)

📚 Bombycilla bombux (Greek) silk, cilla (Latin) tail
📚 garrulus lat .: garrire to chatter, babble, chirp, garrulus chatty, chirping, noisy; ax prone to

I met a large flock of these birds at the end of October, right before winter itself. It was in the old cemetery, through which I walked into the forest.
Birds flew noisily through the trees, and I followed their voice. And i came to a place where rowan bushes grow. Rowan is their favorite delicacy in winter. As you can see, they pluck and swallow the berries whole.

Having eaten berries, they sit and rest. Usually moving to the very tops of the trees, this is if the weather is sunny. But then it was overcast, and they just sat where they ate berries.

I want to plant a couple rowan trees in my yard to attract wax wings. I rarely see them. Your photos are always quite marvelous!

It is a very beautiful bird. During bird migration it can be here in Austria too, but it is difficult to find it.
