๐Ÿฆ‰ The common redpoll or mealy redpoll (Acanthis flammea)

๐Ÿ“š Acanthis in ancient Greek. mythology daughter of Autonous and sister Acanthus; when Acanthis sobbed over the murdered Acanthus, the gods turned her into a bird.
๐Ÿ“š flammea lat.: flamma flame, fire, fiery color flammeus

This bird is a close relative of the well-known siskin. However, unlike him, she lives in the north. And I mean the very, very north, and these are: Russia, Canada, the north of the United States. But in winter they are not there, because before winter the birds fly south to spend the winter in more comfortable conditions, in a large amount of food.

And I often see how in winter these birds raid birch trees in a large flock to eat the seeds of this tree gutting birch catkins. Sometimes they can also be seen on the lower tier of the forest, on thickets of wormwood, which is also eaten.
