🦉 The Eurasian siskin (Spinus spinus)

📚 Spinus spinos (Greek) unidentified bird mentioned Aristotle and other ancient Greek. authors.

I rarely get close to this bird to get a close-up photo. But one autumn day, luck smiled at me.
A small flock of siskins flew through the forest, now and then landing on trees and bushes.

They were very interested in the buds on the trees. They carefully approached them along the branches and ate them.

I see these birds most often in the spring, during their mating season, which they spend in this forest. After him, they fly away, but only a few pairs remain. And in the autumn they are already in flocks, but it is also not often possible to see them. Still, for the most part, these birds prefer coniferous forests.

Really nice little bird with good feathers, a rare bird, thank you for sharing.

Thank you!

Small birds between the trees are so difficult to photograph when moving around feeding, really like the last photograph showing this little one enjoying a nibble.

Thanks!
