🔶The common tern (Sterna hirundo)

These birds in our city live on the very outskirts where a large river flows. It is an ideal nesting site for its rocky and sandy coasts. And besides, there are a lot of fish in this river.

These birds deftly and boldly dive under water for prey. Their prey is small fish, and sometimes molluscs. Seeing prey, the tern hovers in the air like a helicopter, takes aim and dives swiftly.

By the way, these photos capture just these moments where she looks out for prey.
In August, when the chicks have grown stronger, the terns leave these places and fly to other countries to winter.

I do my bird watching on tv with national geography. Beautiful photos though.

Marvelous birds.. flying perfections 😊

Красивая крачка. Прямо как висит в воздухе.

Ah, the terns are my favorites at the ocean.
The are endangered and on the red list here, but we have a few colonies that they are working with and the good thing is that they are breeding.

A lovely post here my friend!

Cheers and !BEER

Catching this bird in mid-flight must have been so tough yet the results would have blown you away! I always fear that I won't get the shot or if I do that something went wrong (like a blurring of an image etc. amateur fears I reckon). Great shots! They are stunning.

How beautiful those terns are, love the wing span on them.
Great photography!

Such beautiful captures of these lovely birds!
