📷 Feeding Moment

in Feathered Friends3 years ago

Arctic tern feeds the chick on the fly. It's just luck that I managed to catch this moment, I think. I hope someday I'll be able to see and shoot more pictures like that :) I met them at the end of the summer in Iceland, they are very interesting birds.

The Arctic tern is known for its migration: it flies from its Arctic to Antarctic and back every year, covering tens of thousands of kilometers per year and having time to see two summers. Real tireless travelers!

Birds are long-livers: they live for 20-30 years, make up strong couples for the whole life, and are very caring parents — they can protect chicks even from large predators like a bear by fiercely pecking it on the head until blood appears. I would never have thought that birds could do that!

It's better to watch the photo in high resolution.

Just voted this shot for the nomads one as it was too old to vote on. 😬

Thank you :))
