Here are a few fall sightings for this #featheredfriday

As usual I spotted plenty of house sparrows but this on posed nicely against the backdrop of a bokeh orange tree.

A few others in the bush were a bit leery of me. Usually these guys are more tame.

This one was bold and didn't fly away when I got closer. Sadly I couldn't line him up with a more red backdrop nearby.

The rest posed against evergreen backdrops. Not too cold yet for a full puffup they are only halfway puffed.

Here's a bluejay on my balcony picking around in the flowers.

It can't be looking for nesting material, maybe its looking for food. Sadly most my shots were blurry as the screen door was in front of him.

It ended up picking some kind of moth pupa out of the dirt. I missed the shot of the pupa in its beak by half a second, womp.

Now for a northern flicker that was being a tough model. I couldn't quite get a view of it not covered by branches.

Now for a blinking photo lol. I also was trying to get a shot of its red spot on the head but it would always turn its head to the side of me.

In the end I didn't quite succeed in getting a clear shot of this guy with its red spot. You can see a hint of its yellow wing feathers but that's about it.
That's all for now, thanks for looking :-)

Beautifully Captured...
Thanks :-) I wish I could have got that flicker not covered by a branch lol.

Did you know that @stresskiller is also a witness now ?
nicely captured that blue jay reminds me of the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eurasian_jay they do hunt sparrows sometimes .
have a great weekend .
Your Jays have a nicer call than mine. They have a really abrasive sounding loud call for such a nice looking bird. Our bluejays also eat sparrows and their eggs, must be something associated with corvids.
Nice shots 👍 we are over run with juncos lately. Canadian geese on the lake but I think those are starting to move on.
I did see juncos when I was out but they were too fast. Your Canadian geese actually migrate? Ours just stay here all year and plop down in the snow eating grass underneath the snow. Or they get fed by my wife and daughter now lol. They were trying to feed the koi but these darn geese and ducks ate the fish food before they could get it.

Vermont is still the wilderness. We get wild geese not those city-fied tame ones lol
So long as there are unfrozen rivers they seem to stick around here. Plus the salt goes into the aquafers and keeps them from freezing too so they never leave.
I really like the soft and mottled colours of this bird.
The flickers are always a nice sight, quite colorful but sadly I couldn't catch his red head.
Thanks :-)
Thanks :-)
