We went to a Japanese garden on a road trip and found loads of baby mallards for this #featheredfriday
Since this garden gets many visitors constantly these ducks were quite tame.
They had no problem being right next to people. Here they are hiding out in some shade.
This one thought we had koi food for it to eat. Sadly we had none.
There were also multiple families of them throughout the garden.
Here's another batch out on the pond with large koi swimming below.
This batch is in a man-made waterfall river snacking on some algae.
My wife faked them out with a hand gesture and they all came over looking for food.
They took off quickly when they found out, mom quacked and took the batch to someone feeding the koi.
This one was hoping we were coming over to feed it as well.
Now its off to look for more Japanese scenery. The ducks really have it made here with no predators and loads of people willing to feed them.
That's all for now, thanks for looking :-)
They are too cute! Sometimes I think some animals are doing so well, they are just without having to think about the future, they are just!
They do especially well in an area like this where they have no predators to worry about, just large humans fawning over them trying to feed them lol.
Those baby ducks are learning early. Human = easy meal 🙄 That bridge cries out to be painted red haha
This Japanese garden was located in Rockford IL I think they didn't quite catch the hang of the right colors for things but they picked a descent spot that already has a natural river flowing through it. There were at least 3 families of ducks there all quite fattened off koi food that you could buy before going in. The koi themselves weren't too interested in the food but the ducks were.
