Here are some gawky teenage Canadian Geese for this #featheredfriday by @melinda010100
The baby geese by the lake are starting to look really homely.
They look hilarious at this age. You can start to see some of their black and white coloring coming in under their former baby scruffy feathers.
The younger ones look even more hilarious with their massive feet.
I counted three different goose families this year now they are all mixing together, you will often see one of the older kids hanging out with one of the younger goose families.
They are grass eating machines. Fortunately the lake has tons of grass for them to eat.
This is the oldest family. The one in back almost has its adult feathers. In about a week or so it will be hilarious seeing full grown looking geese still cheeping like goslings.
The parents will still be watching over them for a while even after they are full grown.
I wonder how many generations of geese have raised their families here? They seem really used to us humans keeping tabs on them. They mostly just hate the pet dogs that come by to chase them every now and then.

Fortunately these gawky teenagers don't have cringe trendy styles they dress in like the human teenagers lol.

They've probably been here since the last mastodon died off at the lake. Now they have the mastodon on display at the local college but not goose ancestors yet...
Give it another few hundred thousand years ;)
The mastodon was discovered when someone dug out a new basement for their house. So maybe a new house build will reveal the ancient pterodactyl ancestor.

They are in their ugly duckling stage lol. Its amazing such a creature can be formed out of just grass and water.

They are quite clumsy at this age, fortunately they can't get themselves into too much trouble on the soft grass. Quite a few more made it this year than last year I guess the fox found a different place to hunt for baby geese this year lol.
That’s good they are still in the soft grass and the fox went somewhere else, so more survivors 😁🤓
