Here are the thoughts bouncing around inside a mourning dove's head when he lands on my balcony.
Whoohoo whoohooo I have found a nice planter to make a nest in.
I know there are annoying humans nearby but this planter box is a ready made nest for me...
Now with a twinkle in my eye I will have to lure a mate here. BRRHOOOOWW! BRRRHOOO!! hey baby fly my way!
Darn it another one just flew on by :-(
Now its time for a bold call, this will surely work on all these chicks flying by. WHEEEEWWWWWHHHHHH!!
Whoah that seemed to repel them... Maybe I have to tone it down.
coooooooh coooooooh softly softly I am a sensitive bird fellow looking for love.
Dang it that didn't work. Maybe this photographer human is cramping my style. I better fly off to a more private area to start a nest.
Thankfully he finally flew off and didn't start a nest creating piles of poop on my balcony.
Thanks :-)
the story and the pictures are both fun
Just this morning he is back trying again.
Looking for love in all the wrong places... I think there is a country music lyric for every situation lol
I saw some dove eggs seemingly randomly left on a stump and did some research. Doves will quickly move a few twigs around and call it a nest then start laying eggs. They sometimes have epic failures and eggs left sitting on a flat surface with nothing else.
They sound as bad as pigeons. This guys might start a nest on my balcony light. Now I have to prepare for lbs of poop.
