Why are they in a box?

The box is actually a birdhouse for rearing. The top opens so it is easily cleaned out after each season. The Bluebirds raise their young every year in this type of birdhouse/box.

Very nice capture! Four fat birds! They aren’t blue yet! Would love to see photos of the parent birds.

I never caught the parents when I looked into the box. They are hard to photograph as they won't let you get too close.
