At the start of this year I bought some random knock off samsung earpods, they were relatively cheap at 7,000 naira (at that time it was 9 dollars). They worked really well, and honestly I started to believe they may not be so fake. But then along the line it started to fall apart slowly. First the small silver piece at the bottom fell out, and then one day it fell and the pieces flew out. I managed to reassemble it, and it was working perfectly but then I noticed one ear was no longer staying perfectly in the case to charge. I had to start using a rubber band to hold it in place. This was when I realized I needed a change.
Old earpods
This time I decided I had to go for branded earpods, cause usually they're the ones the public believe to be better. The most accessible and most popular gadget brand in Nigeria at the moment is Oraimo, so I headed to their website to find an affordable earpod and that's when I came across the freepods lite. It costs 11,700 (at this moment it is around 9.75 dollars. Inflation is crazy). I got mine at a discount, I think it was because it was a holiday or something.
IN THE BOX
There's not anything spectacular about the packaging. When you open the box you'll see the earpods in the case, the charging cable, and two extra sets of ear tips, one bigger and one smaller than the original one on the earpods.
Specs and features.
The earpods are plastic and are somewhat transparent as well as the top of the case. It has Ipx4 splash rating so that sweat and splashes won't spoil it, It can last upto 8 hours on its own, and with the charging case can go up to 40 hours, it has a 10 meters connection range, and it's good for calls. It has low latency mode for gaming. It also pairs with the oraimo sound app to help customize and adjust the sound according to how you want it, as well as change the touch controls. It doesn't have Active noise cancellation.
Things I like
At first I wasn't really a fan of the earpods' look, at least from what I saw online, but I bought it anyway because I preferred performance. Now that I've seen it in person though, it looks a lot better and I've actually fallen in love with the design. Who knew I wanted to be able to see the internal components of my earpods?
The battery life was the first thing that made me leap in its direction. I was already eyeing the oraimo riff 2 which was slightly higher in price, but then when I saw this one had a better battery I had to pick this one. So far it's been very good. I don't use earpods for insanely long periods at a stretch regularly, but I often found my previous earpods stayed for around two hours before alerting me to charge and at times it was annoying. The longest I've used this one at a stretch was 4 hours and when I checked the battery percentage it was still 70%. It is almost a week since I've bought it now and I've only charged the case twice (after unboxing it, and when I noticed the light turned yellow meaning it was around half battery). It also charged really fast.
Sound quality as well is really good. Though I must say that the difference between this and my knock off earpods is not very wide. I only noticed very slight differences in that regard.
The touch inputs are very responsive as well, and the fact you can customize them on the app is nice. Though I must say that the freedom of customization isn't enough in my opinion. You can only choose between different custom inputs already made. If only you could make your own custom input it'd have made it so much cooler.
Then the game mode. I noticed that when I played games and it wasn't on game mode it sounded off, but when it's on game mode it's quite good. I mostly played Call of duty mobile with it and it's nice. Though I'm yet to conclude how good it is. I'll do that once I play dancing line as that game latency shows a lot. I also noticed if I listen to music in game mode it makes weird sounds in intervals.
In terms of ear comfort, they're pretty comfortable, but then not comfortable enough to leave them in your ear when you're not listening to music. The mics are pretty good too, no one has complained of not being able to hear me during calls.
Things I don't like
There's only a few things I don't like and most of them are just personal preferences.
The first one being the fact that the earpods itself doesn't have any indicator on them. So unless you have it in your ear you can't tell what mode it's on. Also when you put it in the case, it doesn't show any special light that lets you know the earpods are charging. I feel it's not a big deal, but if the earpods were to have a charging issue it won't be noticed immediately.
Then the second one is that it starts to feel like it wants to fall out of my ear after a while and I have to readjust it. I had to switch from the default ear tip to the biggest one and though it reduced significantly it still happens. This one could just be my ear, but it is my observation.
Other than that it's been a good ride so far. I hope to enjoy it for a way longer time than my previous one.

A principios de este año compré unos auriculares Samsung de imitación, relativamente baratos: 7.000 nairas (9 dólares en aquel momento). Funcionaban muy bien y, sinceramente, empecé a creer que no eran tan falsos. Pero con el tiempo empezaron a estropearse poco a poco. Primero se cayó la pequeña pieza de plata de la parte inferior, y luego un día se cayó y las piezas salieron volando. Conseguí volver a montarlo, y funcionaba perfectamente, pero entonces me di cuenta de que una oreja ya no se quedaba perfectamente en la carcasa para cargar. Tuve que empezar a usar una goma elástica para mantenerlo en su sitio. Fue entonces cuando me di cuenta de que necesitaba un cambio.
Antiguos auriculares
Esta vez me decidí por unos auriculares de marca, porque suelen ser los que el público considera mejores. La marca de gadgets más accesible y popular en Nigeria en este momento es Oraimo, así que me dirigí a su sitio web para encontrar unos auriculares asequibles y fue entonces cuando me topé con los freepods lite. Cuesta 11.700 (en este momento son unos 9,75 dólares. La inflación es una locura). El mío lo conseguí con descuento, creo que fue porque era festivo o algo así.
EN LA CAJA
El embalaje no tiene nada de espectacular. Al abrir la caja verás los auriculares en el estuche, el cable de carga y dos juegos extra de almohadillas, una más grande y otra más pequeña que la original de los auriculares.
Especificaciones y características.
Los auriculares son de plástico y algo transparentes, así como la parte superior del estuche. Tiene Ipx4 splash rating para que el sudor y las salpicaduras no lo estropeen, Puede durar hasta 8 horas solo, y con el estuche de carga puede llegar hasta 40 horas, tiene un rango de conexión de 10 metros, y es bueno para llamadas. Tiene modo de baja latencia para juegos. También se empareja con la app oraimo sound para ayudar a personalizar y ajustar el sonido según como lo quieras, así como cambiar los controles táctiles. No tiene cancelación activa de ruido.
Cosas que me gustan
Al principio no me gustaba mucho el aspecto de los auriculares, al menos por lo que veía en internet, pero los compré igualmente porque prefería el rendimiento. Sin embargo, ahora que los he visto en persona, tienen mucho mejor aspecto y me he enamorado del diseño. ¿Quién me iba a decir que quería ver los componentes internos de mis auriculares?
La duración de la batería fue lo primero que me hizo dar un salto en su dirección. Ya le había echado el ojo al oraimo riff 2 que tenía un precio ligeramente superior, pero cuando vi que este tenía mejor batería tuve que elegirlo. Hasta ahora me ha ido muy bien. No utilizo los auriculares durante largos periodos de tiempo, pero mis anteriores auriculares se quedaban unas dos horas antes de avisarme para que los cargara y a veces resultaba molesto. Lo máximo que he utilizado estos auriculares han sido 4 horas seguidas y cuando comprobé el porcentaje de batería aún estaba al 70%. Hace casi una semana que lo compré y sólo lo he cargado dos veces (después de sacarlo de la caja y cuando me di cuenta de que la luz se volvía amarilla, lo que significaba que estaba a mitad de batería). Además se carga muy rápido.
La calidad del sonido también es muy buena. Aunque debo decir que la diferencia entre este y mi knock off earpods no es muy amplia. Solo he notado muy ligeras diferencias en ese sentido.
Las entradas táctiles también responden muy bien, y el hecho de que puedas personalizarlas en la aplicación está muy bien. Aunque debo decir que la libertad de personalización no es suficiente en mi opinión. Sólo puedes elegir entre diferentes entradas personalizadas ya hechas. Si pudieras crear tus propias entradas personalizadas, sería mucho mejor.
Luego el modo de juego. Me di cuenta de que cuando jugaba juegos y no estaba en modo de juego que sonaba apagado, pero cuando está en modo de juego es bastante bueno. He jugado sobre todo a Call of duty mobile con el y esta bien. Aunque todavía no he llegado a la conclusión de lo bueno que es. Lo haré una vez que juegue a la línea de baile ya que la latencia del juego se nota mucho. También he notado que si escucho música en modo juego hace sonidos raros en intervalos.
En cuanto a la comodidad en la oreja, son bastante cómodos, pero luego no lo suficiente como para dejarlos en la oreja cuando no estás escuchando música. Los micrófonos son bastante buenos también, nadie se ha quejado de no poder oírme durante las llamadas.
Cosas que no me gustan
Sólo hay unas pocas cosas que no me gustan y la mayoría son sólo preferencias personales.
La primera es que los auriculares no tienen ningún indicador. Así que a menos que lo tengas en la oreja no puedes saber en qué modo está. También cuando lo pones en el estuche, no muestra ninguna luz especial que te permite saber que los auriculares se están cargando. Creo que no es un gran problema, pero si los auriculares tuvieran un problema de carga no se notaría inmediatamente.
La segunda es que al cabo de un rato parece que se me quieren salir de la oreja y tengo que reajustarlos. Tuve que cambiar la almohadilla por defecto por la más grande y aunque se redujo significativamente, sigue ocurriendo. Esto podría ser sólo mi oído, pero es mi observación.
Aparte de eso ha sido un buen viaje hasta ahora. Espero disfrutarlo mucho más tiempo que el anterior.

Nice review i don't know why oraimo products happen to be the most expensive in the market, i wonder how much their phones would be sold at if they venture into producing android devices.
I have an old air pod that wasn't oraimo anyway but I look forward to getting a new one anytime soon, and this time I think earbuds would be better so do you have any suggestions?
Oraimo's products used to be relatively pocket friendly when they first started, but nowadays that they've gained popularity they're doing collabs and selling some premium products for outrageous prices. If they were to go into phone making I'm sure they'll employ a similar strategy.
Honestly I'm still a novice when it comes to earpods, earbuds and audio devices in general so I have no idea any earbud to recommend

I do not like all these new models (or sub models) coming after the Freepods 2,3,4, and Pro. Anything other than the original liners seem to me like they wouldn't appeal very much to me. This one is an example. So many turn offs.
For one, earphones have to be ergonomic, and that inludes "not falling off." And as for sound quality, man, I can't be dealing with the inconsistencies like how different it sounds during gameplay when game mode is off.
On the bright side, it's a pretty decent pair of earphones, especially for the batteries. For someone that's not much of a nerd, it should suffice.

I've not used any of the other ones you mentioned, but from what I've seen online they're definitely better. Too bad their prices aren't so pocket friendly if not I'd definitely have gone for them. The only other option at this price point is the Oraimo riff 2, and I think this one is better (judging based on specsheet).
The part where you used rubber for the old one made me laugh (sorry😭)...but then the oraimo is actually going to outperform the old one. Mine is still serving me well, except for few milliseconds delay when using it to play games like COD...I will like to see your review, probably in the future, concerning the latency rate of yours when playing COD too.

Nice review and at the same, there may be one or two things one wouldn´t like depending on preferences. I am also thinking of going for an earpod because I bought two last year for my previous phone, I had to dash it out when none was working for my phone. Now that I have bought a new phone, I just hope it works well so I don´t end up wasting money again.

Lately Oraimo is doing crazy things. In my opinion sooner or later they will be the brand people will look at for anything accessory. From earpods, to chargers to smart watches you can name a whole lot. I've only ever used their charger and I can testify that they are insanely good.
I had your worries at first, I didn't like any thing that had the look of an apple earpods if it was not earpods but now am taking it rather normally.
I think the oraimo earpods is a good one.

Oraimo really put in a lot of work into their earpods and I can tell because I used the freepods 3 2baba edition and it's a very good earpods. This freepods light is actually cheap, the freepods 3 I bought back in 2021 cost around N14000,it will probably be around 18k by now. One bad thing I have noticed is that oraimo freepods don't last, one of my freepods 3 stopped working after a year and the same thing happened to my friend who had the freepods pro but I will certainly buy another one, probably the freepods 4

The design looks very interesting and the long battery life they have is great, the detail that after a while you feel that they fall out of the ear is normal in these models but eventually you get used to it.
