After the events of the last game, Ethan Winters and his wife Mia find themselves living in Europe because Chris wanted to keep them safe and this was the best option. Now Ethan is the father of a little girl named Rosemary Winters and his life was beginning to return to normal until one day Mia is riddled with bullets. The treasure of this is Chris who, along with his men, ended Mia's life, kidnapped Rosemary and transported Ethan's body in a van that was attacked, causing the protagonist to wake up alone in the middle of nowhere. And here we begin the adventure of Ethan entering an unknown place to rescue his little daughter. This path leads him to an abandoned village with a very disturbing atmosphere. Ethan later reaches a house where he could find someone who warns him about the dangers that were in this place and it is not long until this man dies.

La siguiente zona fue el territorio de Moreau donde encontrar el frasco no es tan complicado ya que lo complicado en si es salir de ahí, pronto se encuentra con Chris que le dice que hay una razón para estar en este lugar pero antes de poder decirle más fueron atacados y terminan separándose, esto hace que Ethan tenga un enfrentamiento cara a cara con la mutación de Moreau que como los demás enemigos fue derrotado, y así Ethan recupera el último frasco para colocarlo en un altar y abrir un camino secreto a los dominios de Heisenberg, está era una fábrica que esconde horribles experimentos, Heisenberg conversa con Ethan para tratar de persuadirlo y trabajar en equipo para acabar con Miranda pero Ethan se niega y ahora tiene que sobrevivir a los mortales experimentos dela fábrica de Heisenberg hasta que encuentra una vez más a Chris quien por fin puede explicarle todo y aquí es donde se despejan todas las dudas

Chris Redfield atacó a Miranda mientras se hacía pasar por Mia pero las cosas salieron mal el comboy dónde viajaban fue destruido Miranda escapó con Rose y así comenzó la historia de este juego con Ethan buscando a su hija, una vez entendido todo esto Ethan enfrenta al último jefe de la aldea Heisenberg quien se convierte en un enorme mounstro pero también es vencido como todo los demás

Tras esto Miranda aparece de repente para arrancarle el corazón y así Ethan muere supuestamente reencontrándose una vez más con Eveline que le have una gran revelación y es que todo este tiempo Ethan ha estado muerto y para ser más exacto fue al inicio de la aventura de la anterior entrega pero gracias al hongo es que vuelve a la vida, así que ahora le toca a Chris hacerse cargo de todo este desastre adentrándose en la villa enfrentándose contra licántropos encontrando el hongo y poniendo una bomba en el para acabar con todo el lugar y la amenaza de acabar por una vez por todas aunque al final también encuentra a la verdadera Mía secuestrada Chris la rescata y todo llega a su fin con una gran explosión

Y bueno antes de eso resulta que Ethan no está tan muerto como parecía ser y gracias a él Duque fue llevado cerca de Miranda para enfrentarse una última vez a ella y recuperar a su bebé y así comienza el enfrentamiento final como la mayoría de los resident evil Miranda cambia su aspecto en ocasiones representando un reto para Ethan pero pronto es vencida y desaparece lo mismo sucede con Ethan quien sostiene a Rose y be como su brazo comienza a desaparecer al parecer Eveline tenía razón y la muerte de Miranda también sería la de Ethan, Chris llega al lugar para apoyar pero es demasiado tarde ya que Ethan elige sacrificarse siendo este quien donde la bomba que acaba con todo y así el protagonista de esta historia muere
