Hello hive, as if two MMOs and three gachas were not enough, I started my path on Blue Protocol: Star Resonance. Oh boy, there is just so much to do in this game. I feel I have covered barely 10%, with a lot of menu interactions and red dots still to be cleared. I was hyped by the original project, and even though the story changed drastically, the ambience and anime animations are still on point. So, I created my account and formally started playing this game. Opinions are mixed, so here I share how it has been one week of this globally awaited game.

Every beginning is exciting. In games like this, it means a bunch of free stuff, like this dog mount and many resources. The world is vast, but it is only full of life if your graphics allow it to load tons of players. The anime look of this game is on point; from expressions to skills, it all looks like an anime series.

I chose the verdant oracle class. This is a healer type with the Smite Spec subclass focused on healing and some damage. I created a male character, but I am regretting my decision already. Apparently, animations for each class are based on the gender they have. So if you chose a gender different from the one portrayed in class selection, the animations will look like stills of the opposite gender. Now my character moves a little girly sometimes, and animations during story mode can be quite feminine too. Try to choose the gender presented in the class if you wanna avoid this; that is especially true for female to male characters. Aside from that, my Verdant is currently on level 40 with only two golden gear pieces, one battle imagine, and skills around level 15.

There are many things to learn, with a bunch of tutorials included. Like skills for gathering and crafting are quite broad. I chose gemology to learn how to craft gems that increase your gear's power. You can do fishing, dancing, and there are many leisure activities around the city and inside the guild.

Blue Protocol also has gacha. We have it for clothes, mounts, and even Battle Imagines, which are like souls used as summonings in battle. To get them, we use a special game currency obtainable from game content (and bound to it) or by purchases in the store.

Combat is quite simple. The design is classic with a Tank-DPS-heal triad. Abilities depend on energy to be cast, and auto-battle is available. Combat gets complicated during raids and special dungeons, where dynamics are in place to level up the complexity. Story mode has represented a challenge yet (I'm on chapter III), and it's been more like an introduction to the game. Also, the storyline has not been very appealing, and the animation during conversations between characters is more like an image with a moving mouth. These aspects have been quite criticized over the past week.

There is still so much to learn in this game; it can be overwhelming. My suggestion and approach has been to take one thing at a time, and to save precious gaming time by researching online for tips and tutorials. As we know, resources can be limited, especially for those given freely at the beginning, so you want to invest them correctly. If you play BPSR, let me know so we can go farming together.
