RE: Questionable Utility Of Silicone Rollable Keyboard

in Geek Zone2 years ago

This is one of those ideas that while it looks good on paper, the implementation leaves much to be desired. It is quite a technical feat to put working electronics in a rollable pad of silicon, but given the poor performance and alternative options, it sounds like it's not worth it. I got a tri-foldable keyboard, which is cramped with questionable key placement, but so far I'm enjoying it for light tasks. I might do a proper review once I put it through the paces. Great to read about your silicone keyboard, even if it didn't work out well.

I saw those proper tri-foldable keyboard, they look pretty decent and seems like it's worth it. I am all for portability but so far, there are only a few that is pretty satisfying such as the keyboard from Logitech. Even so, they're still relying on battery and it's a bit chunky. Maybe one day we'd have invisible light portable keyboard like we've seen in Sci-fi movies. And please do a review ASAP, it might convince me to hunt for a trifold keyboard.

I'm enjoying this foldable keyboard. Some people have had different issues with it, but the one I have hasn't shown any problems so hopefully the issues were resolved. I think the two biggest issues that I've encountered so far is the cramped layout of the keys, and the placement of the apostrophe key. You have to get used to both. The small surface area is expected and easy to adjust to, but I'll probably never reach the same speed as with a regular size keyboard. The apostrophe placement is a bit annoying because I keep hitting enter instead. So I have to readjust my thinking when using it.

The great thing about this keyboard is the pad on the right side that allows you to move the mouse around so you don't really need a mouse. It also recognizes multi-finger gestures for scrolling and other functions. It is a Bluetooth keyboard so no bulky batteries, and you can set it up with up to three different devices.

The size is small. Here's a picture of the keyboard in the little poach it comes with.

Very small footprint! I've been using for light work so it might not be ideal for heavy work. I will be taking on some trips coming up, so I'll get to truly test it then, but so far I'm happy with it.
