RE: Is this the end of physical copies of video games? | We've lost ownership of our games [ENG/SPA]

The are trying to make it all digital. That's why their is an up tick in retro gaming. Analogue is planing to release a console that plays Nintendo64 games in Q1 2025. Fans of the system still make games for it. I think mainstream will be digital because they make it that way by default but there will always be a portion that will look towards physical copy or file that they own and I don't think that will change.

Sort:

If the interest in retro is mostly in people over 30 who lived the golden age of past years. There will be less and less people who want to play fisscos.

Depends on the area and age for sure. I think the success or failure of the Analogue Nintendo64 will determine if physical copy's of games stick around. If it succeeds then more consoles will come out. They wont be popular enough for Xbox or Play Station to keep it as default but just popular enough for the new gaming company's to make a profit or stay a float until they get established. I don't think it will die but stay a small market. The kids that will keep it a float, will be the ones that had a parent that has one in there house.
