When I was still young, I could vividly remember that time is an essential part of my life. Whenever I want to do something, I put it in a timeline. If I wanted to finish homework by 6pm, I would diligently do everything to reach it. If we have somewhere to go and mother mentioned that we would be out by 7am, I am ready to go by 6:45am. And this is how I have conditioned my mind that there is time for everything. I am Farisha Pulindao, known as “Far” to friends and colleagues. I am an educator by heart and profession.
I was born from a loving family of seven with me being the youngest child among five siblings. I had a very happy and memorable childhood with my little siblings although life back then was way very difficult than now.
At the age of 29, I am given the opportunity to lead and supervise a public elementary school at our community. This milestone in my life is primarily due to this mindset planted in my mind at a young age.
No one ever expected me to take this challenge because everyone knows me as the girl who only goes to school for work and go home to rest. I spend most of my time playing with my pet who is a ball of sunshine everywhere I go.
Although it was not my goal to become a school head, I have personally set myself that upon gaining 3 decades of living experience in this world, I will be daringly dragging myself out of my comfort zone – which is somehow very likely from the old me – a mere classroom teacher teaching English to elementary school kids.
This achievement is not only my pride but also an honor to our big family. Almost everybody in our family is supportive of me in this new role in my career.
I am an introvert and as much as possible, I would prefer to be a follower and not a leader. I only have a very few friends because I prefer quality over quantity. Throughout my years, I only have very few friends whom I also consider family - and they made life extra fun.
I prefer to be at home than be outside with people. However, fate has other plans and threw me into this big role. In a world where seniority complex is very rampant, I am the little kitten thrown into a place full of experienced and ferocious lions and tigers. I am called to lead and manage a variety of personality, ages, and experiences compacted into an academic institution.
This milestone in life will never be possible without the guidance and support of my loving and ever-supportive husband. He pushes me to greatness and planted in me the virtue of being a "goal digger". My husband and I has a very big hopes for us in the future and we hope to reach them together.
Assuming this role, I have again set another timeline for myself that I must achieve. Goals that may seem suffocating, exhausting, and mind-wrecking. But I always kept in mind that everybody did not begin as a master. Everyone started as a little kitten – clueless and wondering what to do with its limbs.
Like a blessing in disguise, I stumbled upon a post of Ms. Antonette about blogging. Writing has always been my hobby. It is my getaway from overthinking and my outlet of expressing the pressures of life. Being a breadwinner of the family, problems and stress have become a norm in my system. Way back then when blogspot was still a trend, I occasionally write poems and stories to alleviate the burden of my problems. Writing is my oxygen in this chaotic world.
Ms. Antonette patiently guided me in navigating this platform and shared her expertise about the rules and policies of this platform. I understand that using Artificial Intelligence (AI) is prohibited. She further encouraged me to engage with the people in this community which further excites me because as an introvert, I prefer befriending people online rather than offline. I would love to meet new people who share the same interests and principles with me.
