The Fascinating Alocasia Dragon Plant!

in OCD4 years ago

Hello Hive Lovers, wherever you are, health comes first.

One type of ornamental plant that is currently on the rise besides Caladium, Aglonema, Anthurium is Alocasia. In the market, Alocasia prices are affordable for certain types. However, the attraction that radiates from this very exotic plant is able to provide a pleasant reflection for our soul and our sense of sight whenever we see all of its uniqueness and beauty. That's how I feel!

Plants that belong to the genus Aracea, include the Aglaonema, Caladium, and Anthurium families as well. Alocasia is a plant that has very many variants, even more than seventy types, as I saw in the Wikipedia Encyclopedia. However, that's definitely not a set standard, I guess. Why? Because the discovery of a new species of Alocasia will continue over time. Thus, the discovery of new species will continue to increase in number.

Alocasia is a tropical plant that is usually grown in pots like my Alocasia Dragon. However, in my opinion for some parts of the world, it is best to grow crops permanently under controlled greenhouse conditions. They don't work well in the dark and need better lighting as Alocasia should be cared for like any other tropical plant in my opinion.

However, if you are interested in displaying Alocasia in your home, then you should pay attention to this one aspect, namely the planting medium. It should be noted that in general, Alocasia is a plant that really likes planting media that is porous but rich in humus. In addition, the planting medium must have the ability to drain water if there is excess water, such as in the rainy season when it is placed in the open. This can be bad if the standing water in the pot cannot be drained because it will cause the plant's roots to rot and the leaves to wither, which will result in the death of your favorite ornamental plant.

In general, Alocasia is a plant that grows in partial sunlight. However, in terms of its resistance to sunlight, it turns out that Alocasia is divided into two types which are important to know.

There is Alocasia which is able to adapt to direct sunlight. Alocasia of this type, in the form of a tree. So that direct sunlight does not become a barrier for him. Then, there's Alocasia who loves the shade that is usually grown in pots like mine's Alocasia. This type of Alocasia generally grows short. This type of alocasia will burn and wither when placed in an open space. Alocasia that likes this shade should be placed in an open space and shaded like a paranet to reduce the intensity of direct sunlight.
