Hola hola, gente de internet, cómo están? Hoy me gustaría compartir con ustedes lo que para mi fue un gran aliciente y rato de esparcimiento con mi amiga luego de semanas de estrés, y bueno, me gustaría compartir también eso con ustedes para desahogar un poco más esa carga.
Hello, hello, people of the internet, how are you? Today I'd like to share with you what was a great encouragement and moment of relaxation with my friend after weeks of stress. And well, I'd like to share that with you as well, to lighten the load a little more.
Últimamente yo estaba muy contenta porque había encontrado un trabajo idilio, o eso creía yo, era una experiencia diferente, soy chef pastelera pero en este trabajo yo me desempeñaba como asesora gastronómica, por lo tanto trabajaba directamente con el público y era algo que me encantaba hacer, pero recientemente comenzaron los problemas, la primera quincena se retrasaron un par de días con el pago, supuestamente porque se había atravesado un día laborar bancario (lunes) ok, esto generó un poco de molestia en el personal pero fuimos comprensivos, sin embargo la quincena correspondiente al día 30 de septiembre no la han pagado aún, es decir, fíjense ya a la fecha en la que estamos, han sido días de pedir explicaciones, de exigir mis derechos y solo obtener excusas por parte del restaurante, así que evidentemente renuncié porque no pienso seguir trabajando de gratis, pero todos los días he tenido que ir a exigir mi pago, lo cuál obviamente me ha desgastado mucho emocionalmente porque es la primera vez que me pasa algo así, y espero que sea la última, así que para evadir un poco tanto estrés y disgusto decidí ir a visitar a mi mejor amiga en su trabajo.
Lately I had been very happy because I had found my dream job—or so I thought. It was a different experience: I’m a pastry chef, but in this role I worked as a culinary advisor, so I dealt directly with the public, which I loved. However, problems began recently. The first paycheck was delayed by a couple of days, supposedly because of a bank holiday (Monday). Okay, this caused some annoyance among the staff, but we were understanding. However, the paycheck for September 30 still hasn’t been paid—and look at the date now. I’ve spent days asking for explanations and demanding my rights, only to get excuses from the restaurant. So, obviously, I quit because I’m not going to keep working for free. But every day I’ve had to go in to demand my pay, which has obviously worn me down emotionally, since it’s the first time something like this has happened to me—and I hope it’s the last. So, to escape some of the stress and frustration, I decided to visit my best friend at her workplace.

Ella trabaja como barista en un lugar pequeñito y muy acogedor, está en un centro comercial que funciona como el pequeño China Town de la ciudad, porque la mayoría de los propietarios son chinos y traen muchos productos asiáticos. De verdad que pasamos un rato muy agradable poniéndonos al día con todo, y claro, desde luego que me desahogué con mi amiga y ¿adivinen qué? Resulta que ella también había trabajado en ese mismo restaurante en el que trabajé, y me dijo que ellos acostumbran a hacer eso, así que hay que estar detrás de ellos, acosándolos intensamente para que te paguen lo que te deben 😩.
She works as a barista in a tiny, cozy place in a shopping center that functions as a little Chinatown in the city, because most of the owners are Chinese and bring in a lot of Asian products. We really had a nice time catching up on everything, and of course, I got to vent to my friend, and guess what? It turns out she'd also worked at that same restaurant I'd worked at, and she told me they do that a lot, so you have to be on their tail, hounding them hard to get them to pay you what they owe you 😩.
Pero en fin, para no continuar estresándome porque no era eso lo que yo estaba buscando sino todo lo contrario, nos pusimos a hablar de otro asunto, afortunadamente su jefe es muy buena onda y le permite las visitas, pero lo mejor de todo es que después llegó el novio de mi amiga, junto con otros amigos que también son baristas, ellos tenían una variedad de café de especialidad nueva que trajeron de la ciudad de Caracas (capital de Venezuela) así que para probarla ellos quisieron preparar un café filtrado Origami.
But anyway, to avoid stressing myself out because that wasn't what I was looking for but quite the opposite, we started talking about something else, fortunately her boss is very cool and allows her visits, but the best of all is that then my friend's boyfriend arrived, along with other friends who are also baristas, they had a new variety of specialty coffee that they brought from the city of Caracas (capital of Venezuela) so to try it they wanted to prepare an Origami filter coffee.
El café de filtrado origami se trata de una técnica en la que se usa una especie de embudo de cerámica con pliegues (de ahí el nombre) al que se le pone un filtro de papel, a parte se calienta en una tetera el agua a una determinada temperatura, se moja el filtro, se añade el café ya molido a mano y después se agrega el agua en forma circular (poco a poco) La amiga del novio de mi mejor amiga fue quién se encargó del proceso y la verdad es que le quedó delicioso 😋, fue toda una experiencia que me gustaría repetir porque el sabor es notoriamente diferente a cuando el café se prepara en forma más convencional.
Origami filter coffee is a technique that uses a kind of ceramic funnel with folds (hence the name) to which a paper filter is placed, apart from that the water is heated in a teapot to a certain temperature, the filter is wet, the coffee already ground by hand is added and then the water is added in a circular motion (little by little). My best friend's boyfriend's friend was the one in charge of the process and the truth is that it was delicious 😋, it was quite an experience that I would like to repeat because the flavour is noticeably different from when coffee is prepared in a more conventional way.
Estar allí entre gente positiva y alegre, conversar con ellos, compartir un café preparado de esta manera, todo eso hizo que pasara un rato agradable y diferente, me ayudó a esparcir mi mente y llenarme de positivismo, así que pienso que fue una muy grata idea, porque los amigos precisamente están para reconfortarte y hacerte sentir mejor.
Being there among positive and cheerful people, chatting with them, sharing a coffee prepared this way—all of that made for a pleasant and different time. It helped me unwind and fill my mind with positivity, so I think it was a very nice idea, because friends are there to comfort you and make you feel better.
